Environmental Conservation and Restoration

Our environmental conservation and restoration programme conserves and improves the ecosystem and ecosystem services in ASALs through various initiatives including: environmental conservation advocacy, afforestation, re-afforestation, restoration of degraded lands, ecosystem based economic activities, eco-tourism, wildlife protection and sustainable rangeland management. 

IIGSD also carries out programmes in ecosystem restoration, biodiversity conservation, climate change mitigation and adaptation, and local community empowerment through sensitization and capacity building to promote environmental stewardship and adoption of sustainable livelihoods. IIGSD aims to create a sustainable and healthy environment that can support the needs of both current and future generations.
