Water and Sanitation

Access to clean water and proper sanitation facilities is a fundamental human right that is unfortunately not available to many people living in the Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASALs) of Kenya. Through partnerships with local and international organizations, we promote access to safe water for drinking and other productive uses by undertaking initiatives such as drilling of boreholes, construction of dams, water piping, construction of rainwater harvesting systems, installation of solar-powered water desalination plants.

IIGSD promotes improved agricultural practices and economic diversification through provision of water for irrigation farming and other agricultural activities, thus enabling communities adopt sustainable and diversified livelihoods. We also promote and support the provision of improved modern sanitation facilities by constructing and rehabilitating sanitation facilities and promotion of proper hygiene practices through community education and awareness campaigns. We believe that by working together, we can create a future where every person has access to clean water and sanitation facilities, thereby improving their health, wellbeing, and overall quality of life.

“No water, No life.”
